Learn to Control your Anger!

The objective of any anger management program is to learn to control or reduce your emotional responses.  The second objective is to learn to control feelings, situations or events that arouse your anger. It is almost impossible to avoid people, places or events that enrage you.  But fortunately you can learn to control your reactions.

Some individuals show anger more than others. Therefore, they may have a low tolerance for frustration. Many people do not take things in stride.   In other words, they are easily annoyed if a situation seems unfair.    Being corrected for a minor mistake or error can ignite the anger response. Some people show their anger in loud explosive ways. For example they might be constantly grumpy and/or irritable. Others mask those behaviors and patterns. Easily angered people don’t always throw things, curse or rant and rave.  Unfortunately they can withdraw or sulk while some even get physically sick. Angry people tend to jump to conclusions.  As a result they act on the conclusions even when they may be inaccurate.

Applications and Techniques

There are many types of techniques one can use without the aid of a professional to help control or manage anger for example:

  • Avoidance or Evasion —  If your childs messy room sets you off, then keep the door closed so you won’t see the mess.
  • Alternatives —  If traffic causes you to rage, you can take an alternate route or opt for another means of transportation.
  • Timing — If you fight with your employees, spouse, close friend or child, when you are tired, try to have serious conversations earlier in the day when you have had a restful nights sleep.

First, it is important to review the cause of the anger.  Second, review the physical and/or emotional responses.  Through hypnosis and Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) positive new responses can be created to replace devastating reactions to the past. Equally important, feelings can be brought to the surface and released. For instance, outside pressures can be relieved. And finally, thru the use of Hypnosis and EFT new responses to old disturbances can begin with major changes in attitudes and reactions.
